Los Angeles Magazine, Baby!
Awesome write-up in the May 2010 issue. “Two Hands Four Paws...helps dogs recover from surgery, injury, even paralysis...In McMahon’s 1500-square-foot space up to 100 dogs per week regain strength through cardiovascular work, stretching, acupuncture, and massage.” NICE! Hope you get a chance to read the whole article. We’ll post a link to it in the next newsletter.

Hear, Hear for Sister Sadie
Sadie first started coming to Two Hands Four Paws in 2004 (!) because she had torn her left cruciate ligament and wanted a speedy return from surgery. She is a Dachshund mix who was tipping the scales at a hefty 35 pounds. We set her up with a diet and rehab program and Sadie has been a happy regular for the past six years. She’s now a svelte 25 lbs. Sadie tore her right ACL in March of this year and, while working with her, Shawn noticed a tumor on her neck. Shawn recommended it be checked out, which Sadie’s mom did, and it turned out to be cancer. Fortunately, it was caught early enough that Sadie should make a full recovery via surgery and possible radiation. She is now 14 ½, going great guns and is currently vacationing in Minnesota. Probably fishing.

Quick Hits:
-Hopefully, you know the amazing story of Mamalei’s recovery. Latest update: She’s now running and and doing a weird gallop up and down the hallway everyday. Funny and joyous at the same time. Miracles do happen.
-Leslie and Bryan recently spent a few weeks in France with friends and their four dogs, all walking, shopping and dining together. The USA is great but the French kick our derrières when it comes to including dogs in daily life.
-If you haven’t heard about the amazing project Carole Rafaelle Davis has organized, saving unwanted death-row dogs by AIRLIFTING THEM TO FRANCE. you should. Check out this website.
BIG Love
Prince is a sweet and LARGE (117 lbs), 5 ½ yr old Golden Retriever who tore his ACL in March. After surgery he boarded with us for two weeks for rehabilitation and to lose a little weight. When Prince first arrived he was holding his leg up or toe touching, but now is gracefully walking on it for up to 45 minutes AND has lost almost seven pounds. How’s that for a successful stay? He is still on a diet as the vet was concerned that his size was a big reason for the ACL tear in the first place. Another in a long line of chatty canine clients, Prince has learned to LOVE the pool and we love having him around.
