Our process at Two Hands Four Paws begins with you, your companion, and your veterinarian(s) to determine exactly what is going on with your pet and what types of therapies can help him or her feel better, quicker. When you call Two Hands Four Paws for the first time, our receptionists will ask you a range of questions about your pet to prepare us for your Initial Consultation.
Prior to your Initial Consultation, we will request information from your veterinarians and suggest that you bring any Xrays or other information with you. The Initial Consultation is your first therapy session with us and includes a lengthy exam that covers your pet’s medical history, diet, limb measurements, gait analysis, and pain scale.
Depending on your pet, a therapy session such as a massage and laser treatment, work in the underwater treadmill, a swim lesson and/or acupuncture would take place. Our physical therapists may do land exercises as well, or may teach you exercises that you can do at home to help strengthen your pet during time between sessions.
Finally, our veterinarians will create a tailor-made treatment plan specifically for your pet, outlining the recommended time of sessions, reassessment period, exercises, and any dietary supplements that could be beneficial. Generally, rehabilitation sessions are recommended for 8 to 12 weeks, but every dog has unique needs.
We believe in whole body wellness. Each therapy session takes into consideration how your pet is feeling and to what treatments he or she has been responding to. We utilize all of the tools available to help your companion feel the best they can. We also invite you to be as much of the process as you would like to be, such as sitting in your pet’s sessions.
